Artist Programs

The DAM’s Creative-in-Residence program offers a unique opportunity to take inspiration from on-view exhibitions and collections while working with visitors from around the world. Residents are able to utilize DAM visitors as a resource, collaborator, point of inspiration, or active participant in a project they create from the ground-up.

The 2022 resident is Kerrie Joy, a poet, singer/songwriter, and storyteller who lives in Denver.

The Native Arts Artist-in-Residence program is an 8-month residency that explores contemporary Indigenous perspectives through the creative process. The studio, which is situated within the Indigenous Arts of North America Galleries, provides artists with an opportunity to develop their work alongside DAM visitors through a series of public engagement experiences.

The 2021-2022 resident is Steven J. Yazzie, a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Denver.

Creative Classes are 1-day, 4-week, and 6-week classes for adults held in the workshops located in the Creative Hub on level 1 of the Martin Building. These classes are taught by practicing local artists and take place in a studio art environment.

Untitled: Creative Fusions is a collaboration with local artists and creatives to create an evening full of events, performances, experimentation, and one-of-a-kind experiences. Throughout the night, artists will showcase their work while providing a hands-on and engaging atmosphere.

Denver-based artists Emily Hope Dobkin and Olive Moya were selected to create a new large-scale mural, which is featured on the main level of the Martin Building. The selection followed a request for proposals process calling for submissions to create a mural telling a story of the Denver metro area’s creative scene. The new piece serves as a beacon of welcoming to students, families, and visitors of all ages.

Our latest collaboration with local artist Chinn Wang, A is for..., invites visitors to pause and reflect on how the meaning of the artwork is shaped by their own personal experiences.

The Precourt Family Discovery Hall features an artist-designed experience with an aim toward inspiring imagination, play, and wonder. Each artist installation takes advantage of the Hamilton Building’s unique architecture and is designed to encourage visitors of all ages to interact with the artwork and with one another.

The latest installation, Memory Mirror by artist Lares Feliciano, is now on view.
